Growing Up Online: Social Media, Digital Therapeutics, and Youth Mental Health

The Society of Digital Psychiatry, in collaboration with JMIR Mental Health, hosted a webinar titled “Growing Up Online: Social Media, Digital Therapeutics, and Youth Mental Health.”

Featuring Dr. Iliyan Ivanov and Dr. John Torous, the discussion explored the impact of social media and digital therapeutics on the mental health of children and young adults. Drawing from extensive clinical research, they examined how increased device use and remote learning—accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic—have shifted the assessment and treatment of digitally immersed youth. The session highlighted both the clinical challenges and emerging opportunities for supporting younger populations in a digital-first world.

This webinar was originally held on February 25, 2026.
